Shoe Week: Red, Red, Wine

Burgundy is the color of the fall season, and I’m just about punch-drunk in love with the color as it makes its way into the wardrobe from head to toe.  Over the weekend I envisioned the pump I wanted: sleek, tall, shine, in a bold burgundy.  With very little whining required, I found the wine to pair with my stems – thanks, Ivanka.

I’m loving the idea of a flash of burgundy, a splash of wine, peeking out beneath the perfect hem of a trouser, or as a fashion star with a dress.

Shoe Week: Riding Boots for Fall

With cooler temperatures and the arrival of fall literally nipping at our heels, this week is dedicated to fall’s shoe trends.  First up, a favorite fall must-have of mine, a fierce pair of boots that are as tough as they are refined.

Cool. Chic. Ready for Fall.

Sweet Wedding Idea: Travel Inspired

It’s funny how a sweet song, a scrap of fabric, a special color, or a favorite place can set your wedding planning in motion.

I spotted this stunning photograph from an Atlanta wedding, designed by the talented team of Amy Osaba.

This wedding had an Old Hollywood inspired travel theme, but all it reminded me of was the raspy and soulful, “Come Away with Me” by Norah Jones.

You never know where you’ll find inspiration, or when it will find you.

Open your eyes, ears, and heart to be inspired.

Look for Less: Statement Earrings

I have been loving the jewelry from Monique Pean for quite some time.  The major investment pieces (seriously, these prices are not for the faint of heart!) are truly unique and have become a favorite of fashion fan, Michelle Obama.

The brand is committed to creating luxury pieces that are produced socially and environmentally responsibly and from sustainable materials.

I love the look of made-from-nature geometric shapes, rough cut stones, and one of a kind pieces that make a statement with a gown or a tank top.

Here is one my favorite, awe-worthy investment pieces:

In the look for less, (way, way less!) category are these statement making stunners from Kendra Scott.

What do you think?  Gorgeous or gauche?

Ladylike Leopard for Fall

The leopard trend has come a long way from Peg Bundy for this leopard trend.  Beyonce, Anna Wintour, street-style masters wear it with aplomb.  Are you intimidated by this wild streak, and don’t want to show your spots in the urban jungle?
Here are some chic ideas to make it your own.  Copy cats welcomed!

Ballerina Bride

My best friend got engaged this weekend to her high school sweetheart!  She’s as fabulous as they come and I couldn’t be happier for them both.

These pictures made me think of her, a ballerina and dancer since she was a little girl, as she begins her journey to be a bride!

DKNY x FEED: Fashion for Good

DKNY has a new collaboration capsule collection with FEED, the hunger preventing nonprofit led by social activist/designer/model Lauren Bush.

The collection has three pieces: brilliant collapsible (read: easy to pack) rain boots, a city survival tote and umbrella, and a diaper bag.

In the sweetest way, the diaper bag especially makes me smile, with the large ‘FEED’ on one side, I envision a mommy or daddy does a lot of feeding when toting this chic bag about town.

So, what makes this fashion “good”?  Each diaper bag purchase will provide 1 mother and 1 child with a year’s supply of mirconutrient powder through the United Nations World Food Programme.

Be chic, do good.

Glass Houses

I don’t know where my dream house is, or what style it will be, but one thing I know for sure is that it will have lots, and lots, of windows.

I love the idea of a wall of windows and a view outside that rivals anything going on inside.

What to do this Weekend: Dinner with Friends

It’s August, we’re officially closer to fall than spring.  While we’ve complained about the oppressive (really, it has been) heat, in as many weeks we’ll (I’ll) be complaining about the colder temperatures.

So, in this order: invite some friends over, fire up the grill, open up a bottle of wine, eat, talk and laugh too much.

Dinner with friends doesn’t have to be fancy.  It could be new flavors or old favorites – the company is what counts!
