Where to Next?

In the last five years Mark and I have been on a lot of trips.  We’ve done weekend trips to NY, weddings in NJ, a couple of long weekends in California, many trips to Florida, short week long trips to the mountains, to Mexico, to Hawaii and to Italy and long week trips to India.

But now, we have no trips planned!  So, the question becomes where to go next?  I have to admit that it is incredibly hot in DC, where we live, so a lot of the trips in my mind are centered around being refreshed and cool.

Here is some trip-spiration.

Where do you want to go next?  Let’s make it somewhere fabulous!

Cabo San Lucas: Inspired for Home

Mark and I just returned (last week) from a few days in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  It is called el paraiso entre los mares, Paradise between the seas, and it was.
We stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos and enjoy every maragarita, chip loaded with salsa and guacamole, and view.  Luckily, the hotel was designed so that nearly wherever you stood, sat, or lounged (it’s a vacation!) there was a beautiful view.
Now was more pleasant that the view from the hotel lobby’s bar La Vista.

By now you know my affinity for the Missoni stripe (which this wasn’t exactly, but it is certianly similar).  The bold colors, fabulous patterns, and pops of light really inspired me to bring this fun, festive ambiance home.

Start with a statement making piece of furniture, eye catching lighting, playful colors in the accessories (rugs and pillows), and of course the requisite margaritas glasses.

If this look feels muy bueno to you, here’s the details:

The best part of travel is the mental souvenir of inspiration, new recipes and new ideas.  More Cabo influence and inspiration to come!

Travel Inspiration: Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Inspiration comes from so many places: the people you meet, art, life and yes, the places you go (or dream of going).

One of my favorite trips to date was to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Talk about big sky, fresh air, and slower living, that is Jackson.  The downtown is quaint and cute, the food is fresh and real, the air is crisp and everywhere you turn there is a scenic photo waiting to be taken.

In designing this inspiration board and the matching Wyoming wardrobe I looked for colors that were natural the environment and pieces that were wearable and utilitarian (while still being refined and dare I say, cute)!
