During the Golden Globes one commercial caught my eye, not for the next NBC sitcom or blockbuster movie but for a search engine. Bing aside, this commercial reminded me that we all have a responsibility.
Who will you inspire? How will you do it?

Guys, never mind that the dresses were awesome, the jewels were downright, outrageously drool worthy.
Here are my swoon-for-it favorites:
Multiple rings for the young ladies (Vanessa Hudgens and T. Swift)

Vintage art deco inspiration (Jaime King, Molly Sims, Jennifer Lawrence)

This weekend’s Golden Globes provided lot (LOTS!) of style inspiration that could go from red carpet to real life.
Here are some favorites and inspiration for your own major event:
Many of the actresses wore beautiful metallic gowns – Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. The style was simple, clean and classic.
In jewel tones, a popular trend was two tone dresses. The look worked for Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock and others. The balance of black and bold keeps it fresh and unexpected.
A big night requires big sparkle. Kate Beckinsale was a favorite of mine, but similar styles were worn by Mila Kunis and Michelle Dockery.
Who were some of your favorites?

It is the end of the first full week of the new year. How are those resolutions holding up? Been to the gym everyday? Cut out meat/dairy/gluten/sugar/food altogether? Training for that marathon yet?
Just kidding! Health is a process that is often more than 1, 2, 3. In fact, it may be closer to A, B, C… to Z. Read on for a healthy weekend!

Perennial cool girls, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen inked a sneaker (I know – sneakers?!) partnership between their brand, The Row and Superga. And since then, the formidable fashion duo has been sporting (pun semi intended) sneakers about town.
Mary Kate, and fashionable street stylers, have taken the favorite sneaker of the skater boys I went to middle school with and made them cool again.
I think they are perfect for a run around town. With a skinny ankle jean, a slim, deep v tee; when your style that day is more baller than ballerina. Of course, the trend is easy to pick up and the styles are available in just about every price point. For my money, I’m going classic with a pair of updated and metallic leather Vans. I know, I never thought I’d see the days when a pair of Vans would be on my lust list.

How stunning is this photo? Mara Hoffman, a runway favorite for her exotic prints and wanderlusty designs, is offering a bridal collection that take the road less traveled for windswept wedding moment.
Not getting married anytime soon – or again? – many of the pieces from her “Devotion” (which I love) collection are totally appropriate for a beach vacation or sunnier days!

Hi friends,
I’ve been around. I’m not making excuses or apologies, but I will share the highlights of the last year – over which time my posting went from daily to weekly to, “oh, man, it’s really been a while…”
Last December, I was officially promoted as the director of my department, for a job I love. In the months that followed, I was very busy at work planning a fantastic conference for 1,500 eager teens and (seriously) amazing speakers.
On a personal note, my sister got engaged and we celebrated a 3rd anniversary and a few weeks later, found out I was expecting.
The months that followed were a blur of excitement – waiting, nausea, check ups, showers, maternity jeans, a babymoon in LA and Vegas (really!), more showers, planning for maternity leave and now a baby!
It’s been a whirl wind of a wonderful year and I am excited to slowly be back to blogging. I’ve missed it and the new year is as good a time as any for a new start!
Thanks for waiting for me,
Carly
It’s hot. I’m not complaining, because I’ll hate it when it’s cold again in a few months. But, when it’s hot the least you can do it look cool.
The perfect solution to the days when “it’s so hot-I’m not wearing makeup-my hair is frizzing out of control-and who are we kidding this is not sweat not sheen,” is a pair of oversized, super glamorous sunglasses.
A recent trip to Sunglass Hut – Mark needed new sunglasses – introduced me to a sleek pair of aviators from Ermenegildo Zegna. I am loving the leather accents and the ombre lenses.
They’re a splurge, but the dog days of summer warrant a classic style with a touch of glam.
For more sunglass steals, check out: Ray-Ban (the original, after all) and some super steals from Nordstrom!
